The Barriere Hotels ~ Cannes

The Barriere Hotels ~ Cannes

Hashtag Life Reviews two of the Barriere Group’s French Riviera Hotels in Cannes: Le Gray D’albion and Le Majestic

This summer, Hashtag Life had the pleasure of visiting Le Barriere hotels in Cannes; Le Gray D’albion and Le Majestic. Each hotel is distinctive in the luxuriant style it embodies, but sisterly in the hospitality and class they embrace.

Hotel Barriere Le Majestic

The Hotel Majestic screams splendour from the moment you enter its bedazzled lobby and winding entrance leading into its fine dining restaurants; Petite Maison de Nicole and Le Fouquets, the latter of which is spearheaded by the renowned Chef Pierre Gagniere. The Spa Diane Barriere hosts signature treatments, products, and whole-body rejuvenation and remedies from the in-house brand that is very much a labour of love. The private beach, a few steps across from the hotel and la croisette is adorned ins white minimalism, and accompanied by a lounge-like all-day sense of freedom and relaxation, with its stellar DJ and beach bar/restaurant. What you must really, really write home about for this hotel however, are the suites. As we walked into our suite on arrival, I took in a sharp breath as my mind whizzed around the room and bounced off the pristine, sunlit walls. “This is Cannes” I thought. Everything in their design spells pristine glamour and opulence. Sweeping terraces provide extra space and stretch out elegantly from rooms with beautiful floor to ceiling mirrored wardrobes, and high rise beds, all emanating a feeling of grandeur and splendour. The craftsmanship behind the comfort these rooms envelop their guests in, has been executed to absolute precision.

As for the dining options on offer: they are a must-visit. An exquisite location, bathed in Mediterranean sunshine and set within Hotel Le Majestic, La Petite Maison de Nicole excels in making everything from red mullet to shellfish even more delicious. Dishes are enhanced by southern flavours and aromas, with sun-kissed recipes and colourful plates.

The delicious combination of warm hospitality and sharing is enhanced still further by live music on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.  Le Fouquet’s Cannes continues the brasserie style of its prestigious Parisian sister restaurant by Pierre Gagniere. The restaurant and menu are a beautiful tribute to Provence with a Mediterranean touch lighting up the menu comprising meltingly soft risottos and the best grilled fish.

Le Gray D’Albion

A few hundred metres away from Le Majestic, it’s sister hotel Le Gray D’Albion offers a more subdued, but no less exquisite stay for its guests. With bouquets of red roses and an intimate atmosphere, Hotel Le Gray d’Albion shrouds its guests in delicate refinement. Recently refurbished to a beautiful modern minimalism all around; Le Gray actually transports you out of the world of ‘excess’ which you will find easily surrounding you on La Croisette.

In spite of being situated in the heart of the famous designer boulevard, and with direct access to a mall of boutique stores, Le Gray has a crisp, refreshing, and grounding feel to its decor. It is, conversely to its competitors in Cannes, a sustainably luxurious stay; not a stay of ‘excess and fireworks’ but a stay of warmth, hospitality, and care. The personal touches, and involved nature of the team which hosts you at Le Gary, was of notable distinction during our stay: everyone remembered our names and smiled when they saw us, as if we were long lost acquaintances. The modern, spacious guest rooms at Le Grey shroud each space with sunlight; whether accompanied by sea views or charming views of the old town of Cannes.

La Terrace Du Grey, and Le Restaurant de la Plage offer sumptuous but laid back dining options for guests with a wide variety of modern Mediterranean cuisine.

Throughout the coming winter, from 19 October 2018 to 2 April 2019, the Majestic Cannes will be offering this superb package enabling guests to take advantage of the mild climate of the Côte d’Azur, which includes an upgrade to a sea-view room with delightful views of the Mediterranean.
