Within minutes, I was gliding up to my Deluxe Burj Khalifa View Room, stepping into a space that framed the city’s skyline like a living, luminous sculpture. Muted neutrals, curved furnishings, and lightly colored accents met me with calm confidence-and then the curtains parted. The Burj stood front and center like a standing ovation.

The luxury here doesn’t shout. It anticipates. Thoughtful lighting, jasmine tea offered without cue, and that rare feeling of being both grounded and lifted-this is hospitality on a higher frequency.

This summer, Shangri-La Dubai has layered in thoughtful new touches through its ‘Eat Play Love’ series-a curated menu of wellness, cultural and culinary encounters that invite guests to move deeper into the city and themselves. The 41st floor Executive Lounge sets a new bar for elevation-not just in height but in experience. Between perfectly plated afternoon tea, golden-hour aperitifs, and a roster of globally inspired bites, it’s where business trips soften into indulgent interludes.

And then, there’s Horizon 42. Currently reserved for private occasions, proposals, and skyline affairs, this panoramic rooftop haven is preparing to launch as a members-only Club Lounge. With a glass-encased rooftop pool and 360° city views, it promises to be one of the most exclusive perches in Dubai.

Shangri-La Dubai curates its culinary offering with quiet precision. Shang Palace, its Michelin Guide-recommended Chinese dining room, is a masterclass in elegance and restraint. I opted for the jasmine traditional smoked duck-carved tableside with reverence-followed by plump, indulgent dumpling selections that delivered on both finesse and depth.
At Hoi An, the vibe softens into Vietnamese warmth. The claypot seabass was tender and sweet, offset by crunchy green mango and a delicate coconut mousse that made a case for dessert supremacy. Each dish told a story; every course felt composed.
Even mornings at Dunes Café deserve a line in the itinerary. Saffron-swirled labneh, za’atar croissants, and a breakfast spread as bright as the service behind it-it was the perfect daily reset.

CHI, The Spa is a sanctuary of silence tucked into the city’s vertical core. I booked the 60-minute hot stone massage-though time, truthfully, ceased to matter. My therapist intuitively worked through built-up tension, the weight and warmth of the stones melting into deeper layers. No background music clichés here-just the soft breath of essential oils and stillness that stayed with me long after.
Post-treatment, I lingered in their lounge with herbal tea and nothing scheduled. The luxury of choosing to do nothing, and doing it beautifully.
