Thiénot Champagne

A Sparkling Heritage

Thiénot Champagne, founded in 1985 by the visionary Alain Thiénot, is a shining star among the prestigious champagne houses. Despite being a relatively young brand in the ancient world of Champagne, Thiénot has quickly risen to prominence, captivating connoisseurs with its exquisite blends. The vineyards, nestled in the heart of the Champagne region, boast a terroir that infuses each bottle with unique character and elegance. The commitment to both traditional craftsmanship and modern innovation sets Thiénot apart, making it a beloved choice for those who seek excellence in every sip.

Exploring London's Gastronomy with
Thiénot Champagne

My experience with Thiénot Champagne began with an unassuming sip that transformed into a profound appreciation. The elegance and distinct character of their champagnes captivated my senses, offering a symphony of flavors both refreshing and indulgent. This initial encounter ignited a journey of exploration, leading me through the diverse and exquisite range of Thiénot’s offerings. Whether it’s raising a glass to celebrate, enhancing a sophisticated dinner, or savoring a quiet evening, Thiénot consistently brings a touch of magic. Its remarkable versatility and elegance make it the perfect companion for any occasion.

London’s vibrant food scene provides the perfect backdrop for enjoying Thiénot Champagne. Below are some of my recent culinary adventures that were beautifully complemented by a glass of Thiénot:

FREDERICKS

It was a search for an ambient, contemporary yet culinary focussed evening out with friends that led me to Islington, where I found the warm embrace of Frederick’s. This family-run gem, a proud Islington institution, strikes a perfect balance between modern European cuisine and timeless hospitality. Nestled amidst the bustling charm of Camden Passage, Frederick’s felt like a hidden sanctuary—a place where the clinking of glasses and laughter of diners created a symphony of conviviality.

The evening unfolded as we gathered around a beautiful table in Frederick’s glass conservatory, the menu brimming with enticing options; the meat platter a must-try sharer. Coupled with the food to elevate our experience— was the presence of Thiénot Brut Rosé. The champagne’s crisp, refreshing notes danced effortlessly on the palate, harmonizing with each dish. Its delicate effervescence added a celebratory touch to the occasion, as we chatted and laughed away. Thienot’s bubbles carried us all the way through to Frederick’s unmissable chocolate fondant.

Like Frederick’s, which honours its heritage while embracing a fresh, contemporary atmosphere, Thiénot Champagne carries the legacy of its terroir while innovating with finesse and flair. The Rosé, with its vibrant fruit notes and elegant finish, mirrored the dishes we enjoyed—each thoughtfully crafted.

As the night went on, our glasses were refilled, laughter echoed across the room, and every moment seemed brighter and more memorable, under the glow of Frederick’s ambiance. It was the kind of evening you hope to recreate, knowing Thiénot Champagne will always be the perfect companion to life’s finest moments.

DEAN STREET TOWNHOUSE & SOHO HOUSES

It was a bright and unexpectedly sunny Sunday afternoon—one of those rare days that seem to beckon you outdoors to embrace the city at its most cheerful. Seeking a proper British Sunday roast with the comforting company of family, I found myself at Dean Street Townhouse. Nestled in the heart of Soho, this classic yet stylish establishment exudes the kind of charm that makes you feel instantly at home. It’s a place where the chatter of lively conversations mingles with the warm aroma of roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings fresh from the oven.

We settled into a cozy corner, the sunlight casting a golden glow over the table. The menu, as expected, was a celebration of Sunday roast staples—perfectly roasted meats, rich gravies, and all the trimmings. The addition of the Thiénot Brut Vintage truly elevated the afternoon. With its refined complexity and elegant toastiness, the champagne became more than just a drink—it is a companion to the meal, enhancing every bite with its subtle yet sophisticated character.

Sharing the unhurried joy of a Sunday spent with loved ones, it becomes clear that the champagne is as much a part of the experience as the place itself.

And for those who love the unique ambiance of Soho’s iconic spots, it’s worth noting that Thiénot Champagne is the house pour across all Soho Houses and Soho House hotels. So, whether you’re enjoying a Sunday roast or an evening cocktail, Thiénot will be quietly enhancing the moment, one elegant glass at a time.

KAI

Sometimes you’ll get those rainy, moody London evenings—the kind that wrap the city in a sense of romance and mystery. The glistening streets led us to Kai in Mayfair, a Michelin-recognized haven of contemporary Chinese cuisine. Stepping inside, you are transported to a world of artistic intimacy, setting the tone for a date night that promised both indulgence and connection.

In the warmly lit dining room, every detail—down to the intricate patterns on the tableware—spoke of elegance and thoughtfulness. The menu reads like a love letter to modern Chinese gastronomy, and as we decided on our courses, it felt only fitting to begin with Thiénot Cuvée Stanislas Blanc de Blancs. This exceptional champagne, with its golden hue and fine, persistent perlage, is a tribute to the founder’s son and a testament to the house’s commitment to excellence.

From the first sip, the Cuvée Stanislas captivates with its broad aromatic profile. Notes of lemon and ripe white fruit intertwine with hints of brioche, toasted almonds, and buttery nuances, creating a luxurious bouquet that echoes the richness of the dishes to come. Its creamy consistency and marked mineral vein felt like a perfect pairing for the restaurant’s renowned lobster noodles—a light yet profoundly flavorsome dish in a league of its own. The champagne’s balance and structure elevated the meal, its richness complementing the intricacy of the cuisine with a natural harmony.

On a night like this, the blend of flavours, art, and ambiance seemed to weave a spell around us. It is an intimate celebration of all things indulgent—exquisite food, striking surroundings, and, of course, the ever-enchanting presence of Thiénot. Aged for 12 years in the house’s cellars, the Cuvée Stanislas embodies the same dedication to artistry and perfection that Kai’s dishes reflected on the plate.
