Here at Hashtag Life – where our ethos is to focus not only on luxury lifestyles; but the finesse and experience therein – we are proud to endorse the world’s most accoladed and unrivalled events company and bespoke luxury concierge: Cornucopia Events.
Everyone’s been there. You walk into a party, a wedding, a bar mitzvah, and you feel like you don’t know anyone. You scour the room for a familiar face, before settling instead for the company of a champagne flute so you look like you’re at least doing something until you lock eyes with anyone, anywhere, that you can beeline for. Imagine, instead, walking into a room where you know exactly who everyone is, precisely because they just happen to be the world’s A-Listers. Enter the life of what I like to call the ‘insider on the outside.’ The average day for Mini Vohra, founder of Cornucopia Events, carries the very high chance that Benicio del Toro or Paris Hilton might just be floating around in the background of any one of his personal photographs. That’s because Cornucopia, meaning ‘horn of plenty’, has access to all those events you will hear about, read about, and recognise everyone at, but also remain locked away behind our TV and mobile phone screens, inside the ulterior universe that is: the lifestyles of the rich and the famous.
Founded in 2002, when ‘fame’ and ‘inside access’ were reserved strictly for actors, musicians, models and royalty Cornucopia looked to bridge the gap between the ‘real world’ and such events that many would never dream of attending as ‘guests’. This is the magic that Cornucopia has summoned into the industry. Do you dream of clapping eyes on the inimitable red carpet of the New York Met Ball? Cornucopia can make it happen. Salivating at the thought of sitting front and centre at a Christian Dior Fashion Show? Your wish is their command, and they don’t disappear into a lamp after 3! Of course, this is a privilege reserved for those who can afford such ‘money can’t buy’ experiences – but Cornucopia is a company that far exceeds the entertainment industry connections, rapport, and access. It is, at its heart, a truly experience-centric events company. Blue sky thinking is its modus operandi, and the sky seems to be the limit when it comes to the events they have helped host. From a £7 million wedding (which I struggle to imagine would include anything less than leasing out Buckingham Palace for a day, but in fact it turns out included a private performance by Rihanna which took up half the budget) to hosting the Annual Royal Military Show for the Royal Family of Bahrain – Cornucopias 23-strong team will tend to the theme like it’s the most normal thing they’ve heard that morning. The team without questions, whips up an imaginative set design, a 24-hour dedicated contact team (because, seemingly, the days of having just one contact person are long gone!), and effortless to-the-moment concierge management, as part of their offering.
But as seamless and effortless as Cornucopia makes these events or access to the year’s most exclusive galas and award shows look, the reality is that these experiences are not just ‘bought’. Without Cornucopia’s fairy-godmother-like resilience, intel, experience, respect, rapport and brand, all these fairy tales remain as impossible as you’d imagine. Mini explains this with the example of the Oscars – an event even A-Listers and actors will find themselves struggling to secure an invitation to. “Many do not realise that in the Kodak Theatre, now called The Dolby Theatre, there is a maximum capacity of seats of around 2,600” Mini explains. “There are 6600 Academy members, so not even all of them get to attend. Take away nominees, presenters, the sponsors and studio executives and there are only 1,200 available seats left or 600 pairs of tickets, which then enter a ballot system for those 6600 Academy members that want to attend. For example, if Leo was not a nominee or presenting an award this year, he would either have to attend as a guest of an attending member, or he would have to apply in this lottery system. That is how unique it is to attend this event.”
So why should a Cornucopia client be given the keys to unlock doors even industry insiders vie for? What makes the Cornucopia client so well ‘vouched for’? Mini Vohra, who puts his brand and reputation on the line each time he achieves the unachievable for a client explains that reputation and relationships are key. “Most people are used to doing an 8-hour shift. In this industry, you give your life to the job. Many days can involve doing 16 hours, but they are the most exciting 16 hours you could possibly imagine. For those that work in finance and hate the job, imagine being paid to do things you love, where the subject of each day remains challenging, exciting and varied.” I’d say that sums up pretty much anyone’s dream job!
