It’s 2022, and there is no better time than right now to bring you a motivational success story.
From the title you might think this is a tale of a rehab journey. Well, it is, but only as far as facial skin rejuvenation is concerned. It is a tale for all people, because one thing we all need is some feel-good moments after the roughness of the last couple of years. If you have been struggling with problematic skin conditions, dryness, dullness, pigmentation, laxity in the cheeks and jowls, or you just need a good pampered refresh, then Hashtag Life have found the best facial treatment course for you.
This treatment is brought to you by SKN REHAB. And where do you check-in? Vie Aesthetics, a long-standing and trusted clinic providing multiple skin solutions and facial treatments.
What does the SKN REHAB Facial offer?
The SKN Rehab Facial prides itself on being a science based, multi-targeted skin rejuvenation treatment that has the ability to treat most common complexion concerns, and promises to transform every type of skin from ‘drab to fab’.
The facial involves 7 steps, with each stage utilising either machine operated or hand massage, to apply the products. The aim of the treatment is to:
- Restores skin’s glow
- Deeply cleanse & hydrate
- Reverse premature signs of ageing
- Banishes breakouts
- Firm and retexturize
My aesthetician at Vie Aesthetics was the lovely Maria, with years of facial experience evident in her magic hands. At first, my skin was assessed under bright light. Apparently, my skin texture and overall plumpness was looking much better since my Morpheus8 and Profhilo treatment a few months before, also at Vie Aesthetics (read here), but that I did suffer for congested pores in the t-zone area as well as dryness/redness in the cheeks. But that I was not a worry, because as explained by Maria, SKN Rehab provides its own products and different machine settings, and the facial’s 7 steps are designed from start to finish to work harmoniously together, each step doing something specific for the skin, above or below the surface. The technology consists of different modes and handheld devices (pictured below), each utilised by the aesthetician in the application of either a product or a skin-massaging technique. These are 5 cutting-edge skin technologies that use the principles of exfoliation, deep cleansing, peptide & vitamin infusion, LED light and oxygen therapy.
After some mug shots were taken, I was invited to relax on the treatment bed, and let the SKN REHAB process run its much needed course.
What are the 7 steps of the SKN REHAB Facial?
Diamond Microdermabrasion
The SKN Rehab Facial starts with a light cleanse to prepare the face for the first key step in the treatment – Diamond Microdermabrasion.
Microdermabrasion comes in different forms and abrasiveness, and yet the SKN REHAB technology is by far the most comfortable version I have ever experienced. This step is all about exfoliation, exfoliation, exfoliation! The treatment gently removes the superficial layer of the epidermis, where dirt, dead skin, and product build-up sit, the root of all texture evilness. The wand used here is tipped with a rough textured diamond, which allows for a controlled abrasive environment and safe exfoliation.
The wand is combined with a vacuum to immediately remove impurities and dead skin. Microdermabrasion is a healthy way of polishing skin as well as activating cell renewal. Tiny surface wounds are created by the diamond wand, which in turn sends a message to the cells underneath the epidermis to promote more collagen growth. This results in both repair and a fresher complexion. All the following steps will focus on product infusion and absorption.
ION Detox
This is the second step, and scientifically known as “Iontophoresis -“. It ensures toxins and remaining impurities are effectively removed using a negative galvanic current. Since skin is made up of both positive and negative ions, this step focuses on pulling direct through micro currents of negatively charged ions. Maria placed a small electrode pad on my shoulder, which ensures that an electric current will run through my skin upon starting the galvanic cleanse. This stage was very important for my skin because I suffer from congestion in my cheeks and black heads in my t-zone area. So a deep clearing out of the pores is the only way to properly cleanse the skin and prevent recurring blemishes and congestion. This step also helps open pores, which is going to be essential for the immediate steps requiring vitamins, peptides and growth factors absorption.
ION Infusion
The next step utilises the opposite current of positive ions. This is known as ION Infusion, or “Iontophoresis +”. As you would expect, this technique focuses on positively pushing products into the skin. Rather than just massaging products into the skin by hand, a positive microcurrent increases effective absorption by the skin up to 400% more, thanks to the gentle pulses of electrical current transporting the skin boosters into the epidermis.
I was recommended the SKN REHAB Hydrate skin peptide, to treat the dryness in the lower face. Both Steps 2 and 3 are completely painless, and feel more like a gentle vibration as the wand glides around the face. With ION Infusion, you will feel the product is effectively being absorbed over the course of 5-10 minutes of the micro-current. My skin was thirsty and quickly soaked up the product!
LED Light Therapy
The next part of the facial is another tailor made step, using LED Light Therapy. As pictured, I required red light therapy. The LED mask calms and rejuvenates your skin. LED Light Therapy is used to treat and cure an array of skin concerns, as well as settle your complexion post-treatment. Red light is scientifically-proven to stimulate collagen and elastin production, blue light is proven to kill up to 80% of blemish-producing bacteria and green light helps calm, balance, and brighten.
Oxygen Glow
Skin needs oxygen because it is made up of breathing and living cells. Yet oxygen from the air and from our water intake is not enough to ensure that the living cells of the epidermis are properly breathing. SKN REHAB has cleverly devised this step to deliver 98% pure oxygen into the skin. This part of the treatment uses a small want that pushes our pure oxygen. The pressurised flow of the oxygen helps the skin to open pores, absorb products, and in turn regenerate cells more quickly. It is a proven fact that pure oxygen also helps kill bacteria, for clearer skin and a healthy complexion. You will feel a comfortable flow of cool oxygen, a localised blast as the wand moved around the face. You will be left with plump, illuminated and hydrated skin.
Stem Cell Mask
The next step is the SKN REHAB Stem Cell Bio-Cellulose Sheet Mask that is applied for a good 5-10 mins. This mask delivers a rejuvenating, calming, and replenishing finish. Your skin’s stem cells have a limited life span and they decrease with age, so this mask helps relish those cells.
SKN REHAB uses Swiss Apple Stem Cells in their mask because these harvest powerful anti-ageing properties and promote a younger looking complexion.
SKN REHAB Moisturiser and SPF
The final step involves the therapist applying SKN REHAB’s very own skincare products – the diamond Moisturiser, and SPF 30.
A gentle facial massage technique is used to calm puffiness and increase circulation and encourage a brighter complexion. The SKN REHAB Filter SPF30 contains a powerful combination of vitamins and antioxidants to not only protect the skin from UV/UBA rays, but help reverse the damaging effects of the sun. Vitamin E shields the skin from toxins and pollutants, hyaluronic acid hydrates, and the antioxidant properties of vitamin C help treat sun spots and hyper-pigmentation.
SKN REHAB Facials can be enjoyed as an indulgent one-off treatment, but even after my one treatment I could tell that repetitive treatments spaced out would lead to much better skin health.
The SKN REHAB Facial treatment at Vie Aesthetics costs £200, and a course of treatments is available if advised during the consultation. Vie Aesthetics is located at: 2 Harley Street, Marylebone, London, W1G 9PA.
