Each morning, we were welcomed by a lavish breakfast buffet featuring an array of freshly baked pastries, locally sourced cheeses, cold cuts, homemade yogurts, and seasonal fruits. Cooking stations offered made-to-order omelets, waffles, and hot pancakes, accompanied by honeycomb straight from the beehive. For those craving indulgence, Prosecco flowed freely, ensuring each day started with a touch of celebratory elegance.

Afternoon & Evening Gastronomy

Lunch was a light à la carte affair, perfect for guests spending the day exploring the mountains or relaxing in the spa. But dinner? Dinner was an experience to savor-a four-to-five course masterpiece that showcased both South Tyrolean heartiness and Mediterranean finesse.
The salad buffet, offering an astonishing spectrum of fresh produce, set the stage. Each à la carte dish that followed was crafted with precision, blending seasonal ingredients with rich Alpine traditions. And then, of course, came the dessert spread, a photogenic array of sweet treats, where every bite was more indulgent than the last.

In the evenings, the cocktail lounge came alive with live piano performances, as expert bartenders crafted both classic drinks and alpine-inspired concoctions-the perfect way to unwind after a day of wellness.

The main spa area houses a sprawling indoor-outdoor pool, where we could float while gazing at the golden peaks beyond. The accompanying jacuzzi, salt grotto, rose room, and Turkish hammam provided a multisensory escape, ensuring every muscle, every breath, every thought melted into relaxation.

For those seeking adult-only serenity, the Lakeside Spa-a sleek, modern enclave-offered panoramic relaxation lounges, ultra-heated plunge pools, and immersive sauna experiences.

Cryotherapy: The Ultimate Reset

One of the most thrilling wellness experiences at ADLER Dolomiti is the CRYO-BOX, a state-of-the-art regeneration treatment. Cryotherapy, commonly used by elite athletes, blasts incomprehensibly cold air at the body for up to three minutes. Temperatures can plunge as low as -160°C, though for a first-timer, I managed -120°C-a feat I was rather proud of.

While its benefits are still debated in scientific circles, many swear by cryotherapy’s ability to boost circulation, reduce inflammation, accelerate recovery, and flood the body with endorphins. I found it energizing, invigorating, and admittedly, addictive.

Aufguss Sauna Ritual: From Ice to Fire

From extreme cold, the next stage was pure heat. The Aufguss sauna ritual at ADLER Dolomiti is a sensory spectacle. An expert sauna-master dropped essential oil-infused ice balls onto scorching stones, then waved heated air around the room in a rhythmic, almost theatrical routine set to music.
Temperatures soared between 70°C and 100°C, building intensity over 8-12 minutes. And to complete the dramatic temperature shift, guests were encouraged to plunge directly into an ice-cold pool. It’s a shock to the system, but one that leaves you feeling refreshed beyond belief.

Outdoor Adventures: Wellness Beyond the Spa

As tempting as it was to spend every waking hour immersed in ADLER’s thermal bliss, the Dolomites called. October proved to be the perfect season for outdoor exploration, as the landscape transitioned from summer vibrance to winter’s quiet approach.
The resort offers an active outdoor program, including:
  • Daily guided hikes through the Alpe di Siusi plateau and Seceda ridgeline.
  • Nordic walking and guided e-bike tours.
  • Alpine flora walks, perfect for nature lovers.
  • Ski safaris in winter, ensuring guests make the most of the pristine slopes.

For independent adventurers, Ortisei is a dream base, offering cable car access to iconic viewpoints, rifugi (mountain huts) for mid-hike refueling, and even via ferrata climbing routes for the daring.
